‘Angel’ nurse sings for dying patient
A Nashville nurse is being called “an angel” after a video of her singing to a cancer patient went viral on social media.
Nurse Olivia Neufelder was asked to comfort Margaret Smith by singing her favorite song, Dancing in the Sky by Dani and Lizzy.

Margaret, 63, had been battling liver cancer for the past year and she had just learned that she was too weak to survive a transplant.
The video taken at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, was shot by Margaret’s best friend, Crystal Hamilton Roberts.
In a Facebook post Crystal wrote of Olivia, “She would sing this to Margaret whenever Margaret asked her. Never would Olivia ever say give me a minute, I would but I don’t have time.” She added that Olivia “is the best nurse ever…The best example of what a nurse should be.”
Both Olivia and Margaret are visibly emotional as the nurse sings. At one point Olivia wipes away her own tears and encourages Margaret to smile and sing along to the chorus: “I hope you’re dancing in the sky…And I hope you’re singing in the angel’s choir.”
Roberts announced that Smith died Wednesday at a nursing home — six days after being told she would not be able to receive a liver.
“But she didn’t leave the hospital without the voice of an ‘angel’ singing her on,” Roberts said in her post.
“If all nurses would take the time and Care for patients like Ms. Olivia I believe we would see a lot more healing!!!!!” Roberts wrote.
“There was almost a sense of peace knowing that it was her favorite song and she did tell me it’s the song she wants played at her funeral,” she said.
Smith is survived by a daughter and son in their early 20s.
